Representatives from North America’s two recreational fishing trade organisations have been holding top level talks with senior officials within the Donald Trump administration.
American Sportfishing Association President and CEO Mike Nussman and K.C. Walsh, President of Simms Fishing Products, were among a delegation that met with Department of the Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke for discussions, while members of the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) visited Washington to lobby on behalf of their industry.
The meetings attended by the ASA were organised by the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable and concluded in Zinke’s office in downtown Washington.
AFFTA’s Chairman of the Board, Michael White, said: “I am grateful to the AFFTA Board of Directors for committing their time to deliver a consistent message to our government. A clear message that the business of our members is enhanced by policies that provide public access to clean water and healthy habitat and fisheries. This was delivered through numerous meetings over the course of three days on behalf of the trade.”
