ICAST – the world’s largest fishing trade show – has just got bigger following the announcement that it is to add a marine pavilion to the event next year.
Already one of the fastest growing industry shows in the US, the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) owned event has now partnered with the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) to bring together angling and boating under one roof.
It was only three years ago in Las Vegas that ICAST partnered with its fly fishing opposite number to co-locate with the IFTD show and become an event that covered all genres of angling. Now it is adding another string to its bow.
ICAST Show Director Ken Andres told Angling International that he was delighted to welcome a partnership with the NMMA, which will see up to 50 boat and boating accessory manufacturers exhibiting in Orlando, Florida in their own dedicated area in 2016.
“I was so pleased when the NMMA President, Tom Dammrich, got in touch with me and said he would like to be involved in our show. It was music to my ears.
“Co-locating with the NMMA brings the boating and fishing industries together and makes real sense. It diversifies the product offer on show at ICAST and will attract more buyers to Florida.
“It is an amazing situation we are in at ICAST. The growth of the show has been exciting to watch, and to work with organisations like the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) and the NMMA is something really special.
“We have freed up space for the boat manufacturers to create a pavilion and once we get the first one under our belt we will have a better idea of the way forward. However, I am confident that it will add to the relevance of ICAST and generate even more interest in the show.”
Since 2011 ICAST has almost doubled its floorspace from 350,000 sqft to the 647,000 sqft planned for next year’s event.
