On the eve of the world’s biggest fishing tackle trade show, American Fishing Wire (AFW) announced that it had acquired, C&H Lures.
“C&H Lures and its legendary brands are some of the most recognised names in the industry, said Mike Shields, VP Sales & Marketing of AFW. “We’ve been working with the company for decades. It has used our 49-Strand cable, Tooth Proof leader wire and terminal tackle components exclusively for its rigged lures and we have no plans of changing that.
“With this acquisition we see a tremendous opportunity to grow sales and strengthen our AFW brands portfolio which includes AFW, HI-SEAS, and TRIPLE FISH.”
The C&H retail operation will continue doing business in Jacksonville, Florida, under the new name ‘Salty World Outfitters’ and will feature products from C&H Lures. The brand has been synonymous with big game offshore fishing since its debut in 1976.
Over the years founders, Captains Don and Roger Combs, have acquired and expanded other lure companies which include No Alibi, Nickelure and Billy Baits. They manufacture over 2,500 products.
C&H and AFW will continue to work closely together to develop new lures well into the future.
C&H’s success has been due to innovative fishing lures and techniques developed by Don and Roger Combs. “We make tournament-winning lures that catch fish and fishermen,” says Don Combs, President of C&H Lures. “AFW will continue this tradition and it has the marketing, sales people and larger operations to grow C&H Lures in ways that we cannot.”
After a brief transition period, customers on both sides of this transaction will benefit from improved fill rates, enhanced packaging and by the expanded care of AFW’s larger customer service and sales staff. Distributors and dealers will also be able to utilise AFW’s convenient online wholesale website for placing orders and checking purchase history.
AFW says that it plans to develop new, innovative C&H Lures for inshore, near shore and offshore fishing.
