New gear and equipment for every method of fishing was unveiled at the Mikado New Product Show in Poland over the last weekend.
The event was attended by customers of the brand and representatives from companies that are distributed by Abramis, including Garmin and the award-winning Chinese terminal tackle manufacturer, Black King Kong (BKK), which recently signed a sales agreement with the company that covers central Europe.
Agata Wiśniewska, Abramis Marketing Director, told Angling International: “September is a very special month for us. It is devoted to meeting the very special people we work so hard for all year – our clients. We design products using the latest technological developments and make sure that every item we present is up to the standards expected by anglers.
“Our products are created in Poland and the whole development process is overseen by Wojciech Kurowicki, the founder of the brand and chief designer. We work closely with our China office to ensure that all our products are of the highest quality. A team of over 50 Mikado testers from Poland and abroad work to ensure that everything works on the water.”
This year the show was attended by Lin Xiao Ling, Director of Abramis’s China office, who told guests about her work with over 70 suppliers that Mikado has in China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Vietnam.
“I am so excited to have the opportunity to participate in the entire development process from start to finish. Working on new products involves developing new tools, testing, tweaking, modifying and designing the look of the finished product and the packaging. When we have the final product, we often feel that it is like our baby.
“We always make sure that all our products are of the highest quality – whether we are working with a huge factory with thousands of workers or smaller companies focused on innovation.’
During the show, Abramis confirmed an extension of its relationship with its Mikado distributor in Hungary since 2012, Nyeso Csabane E.V.. This year the family-run company has become the sole distributor in the country, operating as Mikado Total Fishing Hu.
The big news at the show was Mikado’s appointment as sole distributor of BKK hooks in central Europe. Founded in 1856 and run by the Zhan family for five generations, the company is a leader in the Chinese market.
Michele Gori attended the show on behalf of BKK and delivered a talk on the company and its wide range of hooks.
