Abel Reels introduces long-lasting nipper
A new anglers’ nipper – guaranteed to last and cut forever – has been developed by Abel Reels.
The precision-machined aircraft grade aluminium leader nipper has replaceable jaws that are made from superior grade stainless steel.
“These modern nippers are a total departure from traditional line cutters that are just an adaptation of old fashioned nail clippers. It’s just the kind of creative, 21st Century thinking anglers expect from Abel,” said company President, Don R Swanson.
“Tests were done on line weights from 7X fly fishing tippet material to 100lb test mono. Shop tests indicate the nippers are good for thousands of cuts of monofilament line and tippet material.”
The nipper comes with a two-year limited warranty on replaceable jaws. A bodkin-style needle used to clean hook eyes is integrated into the jaws.
“The crucial cutting edge jaw is Crucible CPM S35VN, an American-made and developed premium grade stainless steel created specially for knives. It is powder-made steel with uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties,” added Swanson.
“The steel is heat treated and hardened to a Rockwell factor of 58-60. As a blade material it offers excellent corrosion resistance and superb edge qualities.”
The nipper is designed to be attached to an available Abel parachute cord nylon lanyard, any retractable spring-loaded device or clipped to a fishing vest.
It is priced at $50 in black and solid colours or $100 in hand-painted fish graphic versions.
