↑ The Opal Sands Hotel, Clearwater Beach, Florida, will host the 2017 Sportfishing Summit.

A common thread running through the 2017 Sportfishing Summit will be the 60 in 60 initiative designed to increase participation in angling through the US.

The summit is the American Sportfishing Association’s (ASA) annual business meeting and the ‘60 million anglers in 60 months’ programme will be on everyone’s minds during the event that will take place from October 10th to 13th at the Opal Sands Resort, Clearwater Beach, Florida,

In its Summit Overview, the ASA says: “Over the past two years we have been focusing on our efforts to increase the number of people taking up the sport. This time we want to spend time connecting the dots between what is happening now and then focus on what more needs to be done.

“What is key in all this is how our industry members can contribute in tangible ways to help move the needle. Besides attending to the association’s business objectives, we are going to be asking our committees to spend some of their meeting time focusing on industry’s role in the R3 process –  Recruitment, Retention, Reactivation.”

The two headline speakers at the event will be Dustin Garis – a brand leader renowned for his innovative approach to brand building and entrepreneurship at corporate giants that include Coca Cola and Proctor & Gamble – and Tim Sanders, who spent most of his career on the cutting edge of innovation and change on the ground floor of the tech boom, mainly with Yahoo.

Garis will be on the podium from 9.30am on the Wednesday delivering a talk on The Experience Economy. On Thursday, from 11am, Sanders will be talking Marketing, Messaging and Reaching Alternative Audiences.

The rest of the programme is packed with general sessions on a wide variety of topics that will include ‘Growing the Sport’, ‘The Future of Retail’, ‘Advocacy’, ‘Consumer Shows’, ‘Finance’ and ‘Trade Shows’.

There will also be plenty of time to network with the highlight of the meeting being the 2017 Sportfishing Summit Reception and Awards Dinner on Thursday evening.

Members wishing to attend the Summit are urged to take advantage of the pre-registration and room block rates.

After September 8th, on-site rates apply. Your Summit registration form may be faxed or emailed to the ASA.
