Fishpond, the manufacturer known for its fly fishing luggage and accessories, has announced two collaborations that take it into other product categories.
The US company is partnering with footwear brand Chaco to produce sandals for fly fishermen and with outdoor apparel company VOORMI to market adventure-style clothing.
Sales of the new Fishpond Chaco Flips and Fishpond Chaco Z/2, footwear designed for wet wading and boating, will also benefit conservation.
“To make this collaboration more meaningful $2.50 and $5 respectively from each pair of Chaco Flips or Z/2 sold will be donated to the Western Rivers Conservancy (WRC),” said Fishpond’s co-owner Ben Kurtz.
“The WRC protects river ecosystems on more than 50 western streams by acquiring critical habitat and providing public access for conservation management.”
Chaco General Manager Chip Coe commented: “We are delighted to partner with the premier gear brand in the fly fishing space, to share our products with passionate outdoorsmen and to support the effort to preserve America’s rivers.”
The collaboration with VOORMI will introduce anglers to clothing designed for remote access locations. The product line will include hoodies and pullovers. “The US has become a mecca for outdoor living, a commitment to craft and the spirit of collaboration, so partnering with another Colorado company makes perfect sense for us,” said Fishpond founder John Le Coq.
VOORMI CEO Dan English said that the project could lay the foundations for future collaborations. “The VOORMI Co-Lab is a completely different way to think about building best in class products outside of our core markets,” he added
The Chaco sandals will be available from March 1st, 2015, and the VOORMI apparel from November 1st 2014.
